A spectator takes a book of word searches and opens it to any page. They visualize a word in the grid and memorize it. Just a few seconds of concentration are enough for the Mentalist to guess the chosen word!

Plongez dans le secret des constellations...

Imaginez un jeu de 12 cartes avec sur chacun d’elle un signe astrologique… et être capable de connaître le signe choisi sans aucun mouvement suspect.

Douze cartes richement illustrées de signes astrologiques sont présentées. Ces cartes ont été faites dans le but d’amener une véritable atmosphère, et leur dessin a été des plus soigné pour réaliser une expérience inoubliable. Des trous sont présents pour représenter les étoiles de façon à pouvoir ajouter ce côté poétique en passant le flash de votre téléphone derrière la carte et de faire briller de mille feux les constellations.

Cet ouvrage présente aux lecteurs huit effets de mentalisme avec des cartes. Ces effets tournent autour du thème de la carte pensée par un volontaire et retrouvée par l’artiste grâce à ses prétendus pouvoirs mentaux.

Les méthodes sont fondées sur une approche originale qui sort tout droit du cerveau créatif de Pierre Acourt. Eric Bertrand, pour sa part, aura apporté quelques précisions techniques et se sera surtout chargé de la rédaction de l’ouvrage.

L’effet dit de la «Carte Pensée» n’est pas nouveau. Tous les grands cartomanes y sont allés de leur version, et certaines sont même devenues des grands classiques de la magie des cartes. On pourra citer par exemple le célèbre Out of Sight, Out of Mind, de Dai Vernon ou bien le Princess Card Trick sous ses innombrables atours.

Sans prétendre à une originalité absolue, qu’il est difficile de prouver tant les méthodes sont nombreuses et pas toujours connues dans leur intégralité par les auteurs, nous n’avons pas trouvé trace de méthodes comparables dans la littérature que nous connaissons.

Dans cette dernière, on trouvera surtout deux familles de méthodes :

• D’une part celles fondées sur un certain type de forçage. A ce titre, le livre de Thomas Baxter, A Card Merely Thought Of (2007), est intéressant.
• D’autre part, les méthodes plus psychologiques, n’utilisant pas de jeu de cartes du tout, qui reposent généralement sur l’une ou l’autre variante de l’anagramme progressive. Le lecteur intéressé pourra consulter le livre de Ben Seward, COG (2013), ou bien l’opuscule d’Adam Kordecki, THINK (2013) pour les détails.

Les solutions proposées dans COGITA, qui n’ont rien à voir avec ces méthodes, viennent donc compléter la gamme des outils utilisables pour réaliser l’effet de la carte pensée.
