What do Luke Jermay, Andy Nyman and Marc Paul have in common?

Basil Horwitz.

Basil Horwitz has influenced (and continues to influence) their mentalism, and that of so many others, for decades!...

In 1978, the Magicassettes were released, in English, on which he orally described his best routines... Given their success, the 5 volumes of The Mental Magick of Basil Horwitz followed (a book transcription of the cassettes).

It is with pride that these foundational books are now made available to you in French, in two volumes!

Respecting the original editions, I chose to keep the original illustrations and to caption them.

I hope you enjoy savoring Basil Horwitz's "mental magick" as much as I enjoyed putting this project together.

WHAT THE PROS SAY:

"When I first held Basil's first book in my hands, I couldn't believe it.
At last, mentalism that matched everything I was looking for. It was
clean, simple in plot and direct.
In fact, the further I read, the more I was amazed and frustrated by the
similarity between what I had been doing — a reaction I had on every
five pages or so. I feel particularly indebted to Basil because
I partly built my reputation on one of his routines (if you think I'm
going to tell you which one, stop dreaming)."
- Andy NYMAN

"Too often, performers in the magic world who build a strong reputation
end up falling somewhere between the talented thinker who disappoints
when seen in performance and the charismatic performer who makes
form triumph over substance — impressive, yes, but not always original.
It's rare to find someone who so completely embodies all the elements
of true artistic creation, combining deep thought with an understated
presentation style capable of convincing an entire room — whether
made up of laypeople or other magicians — that the person on stage
is really someone special.
Not only will you learn and practice many of these routines,
but they will serve you to charm and impress your spectators — that's
where all the beauty of mentalism as practiced by Basil Horwitz lies."
